Staying hydrated is crucial to keep us healthy. Water participates in our daily metabolism cycle, clears out waste, and helps us remain energetic.
Our bodies warn us when we need more water, but at this point we are already too dehydrated. Despite of that, in a world when so much is going on around us, we are constantly distracted to some other affairs, neglect some early signs that our bodies is giving us: eye bags, dry skins, forked hair, exhaustions, etc., and thus forget to drink water until it is very late. In this busy era, it is easy for people to be obsessed with their works, keep updated with their social medias, or get distracted by their pushed notifications, and forget to drink enough?
Therefore, the Amo team carefully designed this elegant smart mirror and water bottle combo in the past few weeks, and we are excited to unveil our solutions with you.
SOLUTION
Amo pairs a mirror with a water bottle to give you the most accurate recommendation we can ever have. We use a mirror to detect the visual signs of dehydration, and a bottle to keep track of the daily water consumption.
Amo makes use of the power of computer vision to detect those subtle yet vital signs on your face in the early morning to measure your hydration level, and reports to your smart water bottle.
When you walk into the bathroom in the morning and turn it on, the mirror recognizes you and scans through your face, and check your eyes, your skins and your hair. When the scan is completed, it sets you a goal of the day and sends the data to your water bottle. At night, the mirror congrats you and recalibrates for tomorrow.
The Amo water bottle, on the other hand, will remind you when your hydration level is below the recommendation. Using a scale at the bottom of the bottle, it measures your water intake accurately. When it is time for water, it glows and vibrates to nudge you.
Amo is also connected with the health app in your phone, and adjusts based on your activity level accordingly.

Based on the in-class critique feedback from the instructor, we decided to do the smart mirror and water bottle combination. We believe that this combination maximizes the potentials behind a smart mirror, and captures the precise demand based on the fact that we frequently ignore the warnings from our own bodies.
The team then explored various potential of the product.
We specified the product details, such as its interface, its pairing with third party apps, its various use cases, etc. We also started working on the stage scripts, during which we referred to many other similar smart water bottle kick start videos.
We shoot the scenes together. We carefully walked through each stage, and determined the camera positions before we started shooting the formal cuts.
We stitched our assets together, tuned the cuts, rewrote some scripts and reordered the scenes to fit it with our actual photography.
Meanwhile, the kickstarter website was constructed.
The in-class present day.
